Can a chemist check a mole?
Some New Zealand pharmacies may offer a mole check service. Yet, this may not be a full skin check. It may be a service that checks a few individual moles. If you’re concerned about a new or changing mole or have a high number of moles, we recommend a Full Body MoleMap. Which skin check should I choose?
At MoleMapmole check Henderson, our most thorough mole check is our Full Body MoleMap. This includes total body imaging, individual mole plotting and proactive skin monitoring. You get a baseline record of your skin. You can use this as a reference point for future skin checks. It helps you to track and compare changes in your skin over time. It is recommended for anyone with a medium to high risk of getting melanoma.
For people at low risk or who have spotted a new or changing mole, we suggest having a SkinCheck. This point-in-time skin check will tell you if your skin is healthy right now. How should I prepare for my skin check Henderson appointment?
Before attending your appointment, we recommend removing any makeup, fake tan and nail polish. This gives our melanographers a clear view of your skin. You might also like to do a DIY check of your skin beforehand. This gives you the opportunity to bring up any concerns you might have. It’s okay to moisturise your skin before your skin check.
You’ll need to undress for your skin examination, so wear clothing that’s easy to remove and comfortable. Don’t worry, our friendly and caring team will ensure you feel comfortable and your modesty is protected.
