Do I need a referral from my GP to get a mole check in Remuera?
No, you don’t need a GP referral to visit a MoleMap clinic. However, if you visit your GP for a skin check, it’s likely they will refer you to a dermatologist for diagnosis. This is because not all GPs undergo extra training in the detection and management of skin cancer.
Is it okay to wear makeup and fake tan to my Remuera mole check appointment?
Makeup and fake tan may decrease the accuracy of your skin check. This is because makeup and fake tan may mask the appearance of the skin. We recommend removing any makeup, fake tan, and nail polish before attending your skin check at our Remuera skin cancer clinic.
How much is a skin check at MoleMap’s skin cancer clinic, Remuera?
The cost of your skin check will depend on the type of service you choose. At mole check Remuera, Auckland, our most comprehensive mole check is our Full Body MoleMap. This includes full body imaging and ongoing, proactive skin monitoring. It is recommended for anyone with a medium to high risk of getting melanoma. For people at low risk or who have spotted a new or changing mole, we suggest having a SkinCheck (there's the option to have it with or without total body imaging). For more information on the pricing and what's included, visit our SkinCheck or Full Body MoleMap pages. Don’t know your skin cancer risk? Take our quick risk quiz to find out.

What happens if skin cancer is found at my Remuera mole check appointment?
If the dermatologist diagnosis is skin cancer a biopsy will normally be recommended. This is where a small sample of the skin is removed for testing. In some cases, the biopsy may detect something that doesn’t require treatment. If the biopsy confirms skin cancer, treatment will be needed. The type of skin cancer treatment will depend on the type and stage of skin cancer. Your skin cancer doctor will guide you and explain every stage of treatment.
