“At my annual full body skin exam, the melanographer found a small pin-sized spot on my ear and recommended I have it examined further. It turned out to be cancerous. If it wasn’t for MoleMap, it would have gone unnoticed.”

Your questions, answered

Who’s the best person to perform a skin check in Clyde?

GPs, dermatologists, specially trained health professionals, and surgeons can provide mole checks. If your GP spots a suspicious lesion, it’s likely you will be referred to a skin specialist or skin cancer doctor for diagnosis. At MoleMap, we have invested in the latest research and empower our team with the newest technology. Our skin cancer clinics are run by melanographers—health professionals with additional training in the early detection of melanoma and other skin cancers. Using AI technology and our world-class database of images, atypical lesions are imaged and assessed for signs of skin cancer.  Images of any atypical lesions are sent electronically to an accredited dermatologist for diagnosis. This ensures high-level accuracy and streamlines your journey to treatment—if needed.

What services does a skin cancer clinic offer?

Most skin cancer clinics perform comprehensive skin assessments, education on skin cancer prevention, biopsies, as well as skin cancer treatment. If skin cancer treatment is not provided, they can refer to an appropriate medical professional. Several MoleMap skin check clinics offer skin cancer treatment. Talk to one of our friendly staff to find out more. Call us on 0800 665 362 or book your skin check online.

Which MoleMap skin check service is right for me?

At our skin check clinic in Clyde, Full Body MoleMap is our most comprehensive service. It includes a comprehensive skin check, total body photography and individual mole mapping. ‘At risk’ lesions will be proactively monitored over time. This means any changes will be quickly spotted. You also get unlimited free spot checks and re-imaging for 12 months. If you notice something new you can get it checked out quickly. This mole check service is ideal if you’re at medium to high risk of skin cancer. It helps you to track and compare your skin over time for early signs of skin cancer.

SkinCheck is a thorough, point-in-time head-to-toe skin assessment. Atypical lesions are imaged and sent electronically for dermatologist diagnosis. This service is ideal if you have a small number of moles and want the reassurance that your skin is healthy. Or, if you’ve spotted a suspicious mole and want it checked out fast.

SkinCheck+ includes all the features of the SkinCheck, with the added benefit of full body photography. This gives you a baseline record of your skin, making it easier to see changes.

Before you book a skin check in Clyde, head to our Services page to compare the  features and prices.

How can I tell if I have skin cancer?

Early warning signs of skin cancer may include:

  • A freckle, patch, or mole with irregular borders
  • A firm lump or nodule
  • A spot with a spreading or notched edge
  • A mole that varies in colour (grey, pick, brown, black) A mole that’s increased in size
  • A crusty sore that bleeds or won’t heal
  • A dry, scaly patch of skin that’s shiny/pearlescent and pink or red in colour

Regular skin checks can help you to detect change early. Look for a spot or mole that’s sore, abnormal, changing, or new. Find out more about the SCAN Your Skin method.
