Which MoleMap skin check service is right for me?
At our skin check clinic in Gore, Full Body MoleMap is our most comprehensive service. It includes a head-to-toe skin check, total body photography and individual mole mapping. ‘At risk’ lesions will be proactively monitored over time. This means any changes will be quickly spotted. You also get unlimited free spot checks for 12 months. If you notice something new you can get it checked out quickly. This mole check service is ideal if you’re at medium to high risk of skin cancer. It helps you to track and compare your skin over time for early signs of skin cancer.
SkinCheck is a thorough, point-in-time head-to-toe skin assessment. Atypical lesions are imaged and sent electronically for dermatologist diagnosis. This service is ideal if you have a small number of moles and want the reassurance that your skin is healthy. Or, if you’ve spotted a suspicious mole and want it checked out fast.
SkinCheck+ includes all the features of the SkinCheck, with the added benefit of full body photography. This gives you a baseline record of your skin, making it easier to see changes.

How should I prepare for my Gore skin check appointment?
Before attending your appointment, we recommend removing any makeup, fake tan and nail polish. This gives our melanographers a clear view of your skin. You might also like to do a DIY check of your skin beforehand. This gives you the opportunity to bring up any concerns you might have. It’s okay to moisturise your skin before your skin check.
You’ll need to undress for your skin examination (leaving your underwear on), so wear clothing that’s easy to remove and comfortable. Don’t worry, our friendly and caring team will ensure you feel comfortable and we provide gowns to ensure your modesty is protected.
What is my skin cancer risk?
The biggest cause of skin cancer is overexposure to the sun’s UV rays. Damage from UV exposure is cumulative and increases your skin cancer risk over time. However, there are other risk factors too. Check out the seven risk factors of skin cancer. Or, take our quick skin cancer risk quiz.
At what age should you start getting skin checks?
Skin cancer can happen at any age. Although, your skin cancer risk increases as you age. It’s recommended you begin skin checks from adulthood. Early detection is the key to effective skin cancer prevention and treatment. Annual skin checks with a melanographer or dermatologist will give you the best chance of detecting suspicious moles early — when they are most treatable. It’s also a good idea to do a self-check every three months. Take a look at our guide to self-checking your skin at home.
